You’ve heard the saying before. The good news is that it’s a old saying, and doesn’t quite apply anymore.

Sure, some business start ups require capital to get rolling. But with the evolution of the internet, there are plenty of business opportunities that require $0 to get started.

My business recommendation

Are you out of work and looking to start a business? Or maybe you have a job, but are looking for a new opportunity. I’ve been in both of those positions before.

Wherever your coming from, you want to know how to make money with no money. I’ve gotten the question countless times before, so I’m putting my recommendation down here in writing.

My recommendation: affiliate marketing.

Uh..whats affiliate marketing?

Maybe you have heard the term before, maybe you haven’t. Simply put, affiliate marketing is when you earn commission for successfully promoting other people’s products or services.

How exactly does affiliate marketing work?

The concept of affiliate marketing is quite simple. Here’s the basic affiliate marketing process:

Choose a product, service, or program to promote
Create a website
Build your website around the product, service, or program that you chose
Get traffic (visitors) to your website
Earn commission for any sales that are made through your website

How do you promote other people’s products?

Many companies offer ‘affiliate programs’. They pay affiliate marketers like you, to promote their product and help them make sales.

For newcomers to affiliate marketing, I recommend starting with Amazon’s affiliate program. As I’m sure you know, Amazon has countless products for sale on their website. If you sign up for their affiliate program (free) you can browse their website and choose anything you want to promote.

When you find a product you want to promote, Amazon will give you a unique URL address for that product. Paste that URL address onto your website. When a visitor clicks that address it takes them to the product over at amazon.com. Amazon will know the visitor came from you because of the unique URL address that was used. If the visitor completes the purchase, you earn commission. Simple.

How do you create a website? How much does one cost?

If you have zero experience with creating a website, don’t worry neither did I when I started. Actually, creating a website is really simple nowadays. Most of the work building a website is already done for you. All you need to do is add content (words and pictures).

A simple, easy to use program for creating your own website is Siterubix.com. Not to mention its completely FREE! I don’t know how they do it, I prefer not to ask questions 🙂

You can play around with the free Siterubix tool below. Input any website ideas you might have and see if its available.

If you choose not to use the free Siterubix website, you can expect to pay about $15-$20/yearly for a website. Its actually pretty cheap considering the earning potential a website has if its utilized properly.

How do you build your website around a product, service or program?

Simply talk about the product you are promoting.

Write a review about it.
Give your thoughts on the product.
How does it compare to other similar products?
Why is your product better than theirs?

These are just a few talking points. It helps if you promote a product that you either know a lot about already, or are willing to learn about. Its so much easier creating content for a product that you are actually well versed in.

How do you get traffic to your website?

Getting traffic to your website is important because traffic means sales opportunities. The more sales opportunities you have, the more sales you will make. Makes sense, right?

The best way to get traffic to your website is by creating good, helpful content. If you continually create great content on your website, Google will reward you by placing your website in a more favorable position in their search index. This leads to more exposure, which of course leads to more traffic.

Finally, earn commission for your hard work

If you put in the effort, you will see the rewards. The rewards can be pretty great too!

When I start up a website I like to add new content to it daily, or at least every other day in the form of a blog post. Create quality content and Google will reward you.
