Today I want to go over some additional business models inside the internet marketing industry.
I’ll give you a brief rundown of each one, explaining what it is and how you make money. There is more information on each topic inside the Wealthy Affiliate website, so if you want more info on a particular one, head over to WA and do a quick search.
Niche Websites
This is what I do. We covered this in Day 2. Remember the example niche that I gave you?
“Fluffy chairs for kids”.
The idea is to target a very specific market that people are interested in, and build your website around it. There are literally endless niche website ideas out there that you can target. For beginners to niche websites, I recommend choosing a niche that generates some interest, but is low in competition. Remember, the less competition within your niche, the more likely you are to get people to your website and not your competitors. The keyword tool inside Wealthy Affiliate is a great tool for finding popular niches with low competition.
As you gain experience in niche marketing and have a better grasp on SEO and keyword targeting, you can branch out into more competitive niches.
Profit is of course earned through commissions paid by the affiliate program(s) you are promoting for.
Authority Websites
Authority websites are like niche websites but taken one step further. Authority websites are aimed at a broader market. Keeping with the “fluffy chairs for kids” example above, you can expand a authority website to include:
- bean bag chairs for teens
- Disney themed chairs for kids
- Dorm room chairs for college students
- etc..
What started out as targeting a very specific type of chair can now be expanded to include all types of chairs for kids and teens.
If you hope to eventually turn your niche website into a authority website its important to choose your website name wisely. You want a name that is broad enough that it wont lock you into promoting only one item.
Profit is earned through commissions paid by the affiliate program you are promoting for.
Website Flipping
As you gain more experience in website development and affiliate marketing you may want to look into website flipping. Website flipping is the process of building a website, monetizing it to some degree, and then selling it for one lump sum.
Flippa.com is a website where you can buy and sell websites. Its fun to browse what is currently for sale and get an idea how much you can sell a website for. I just saw a website that is currently earning $1000/monthly being sold for over $8000! If you have interest in building and flipping websites it can be highly profitable.
Adsense Website
This has to be the simplest concept of all. By placing Google Adsense (Google Ads) on your website, you will earn money everytime one of your visitors clicks on the ad.
The best part about this type of website is you can blog about any topic that you want (as long as its a topic people are interested in). You don’t even have to promote anything. The Google Ads are the only source of revenue for this type of site.
With Adsense websites, traffic is king. Since each add click only earns you a few cents, its important to generate a ton of traffic to your site.
Simply put, the more traffic to your website = more money you will make.

About the Wealthy Affiliate Online Entrepreneur Course
This is the course that you get started with inside Wealthy Affiliate. It will teach you all about niche marketing to start. This is where I started and how I learned to grow my online business.
The course took me from zero internet marketing knowledge to running my own full time online business. It geared towards people who are newbies to internet marketing, so its completely accessible by anyone. As you gain more experience you can totally expand to the more advanced training inside the WA community.
The course can take about 2 weeks to complete from start to finish depending on how fast you move through it. At the end of the course you will have knowledge and a real website set up that you can earn money from.

The training doesn’t stop there though. That is just the level 1 training. There are actually 6 levels altogether! To access level 2 and up you will need to be a premium member. We will discuss WA premium membership tomorrow. When I finished level 1, I was so impressed, I couldn’t wait to get started on level 2.
Tasks for Day 4
Task 1: Complete another lesson inside the Online Entrepreneur Course. Also remember you get 2 free websites with your free membership inside WA. The training will show you how to get them set up. If you don’t already have your websites up and running, you can use the tool below to play around with some name ideas and see if they are still available.
